Best mates of the Gallagher brothers Jet have started work on their second studio album in Los Angeles and apparently have 27 songs on the go.
The band are currently working with producer Dave Sardy, who has recently worked on the 'Dirty Pretty Things’ debut long player, on the follow up to 2004’s hugely successful ‘Get Born’.
The band wrote in a message to fans on their official website: “After 2 wonderful years in the limelight and hundreds of shows all around the world, we are delighted to announce that we have finally commenced work on our as yet untitled 2nd album.”
They added: “We have taken a long time with this baby...because every time we got together, more and more songs piled on...so we couldn't decide which ones to work on. Not the worst of problems.”
The songs have apparently been written all over the world in breaks between Jet’s touring commitments. The message reveals: “We started writing these songs in Barbados, just after Homebake Dec 2004. Next we met to write in Nth Brookfield, (Mass) at the famed Longview farm studio. We met in LA twice. Chris was very happy.”
“We also did some work in Sth Melbourne where we spent some time writing amazing songs next to some of the least amazing bands on Earth. Nic and Mark were happy. Although, we have all been back to Australia periodically in the last 2 years...and can say that it is always hard to leave.”
The as yet untitled long player will be released in mid-2006 and will be dedicated to the memory of John Cester, the father of band members Nic and Chris, who died in 2004 from cancer.
