Australian trio Wolfmother formed in 2000. The bands members are Andrew Stockdale (vocals/guitar), Chris Ross (bass/keyboards) and Myles Heskett (drums).
The band signed to Modular Recordings in 2004 and released their debut EP, ‘Wolfmother.’ The EP’s sound - which was loyal to the bands influences (Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix and The Who) - achieved impressive early success. It reached number 35 in the ARIA Charts and enabled the band to play at some major music events.
The EP was followed by their much anticipated self-titled debut album, which was made in Los Angeles alongside Dave Sardy (Oasis). Released in October 2005, the albums initial success was localised to their homeland.
It wasn’t until the SXSW Festival in Texas, and the Coachella Festival in California at the beginning of 2006, that the band started to catch the world’s attention. Under the banner of ’one of the most promising bands for 2006’ Wolfmother were booked to play a number of music festivals around the world – including Oxygen, in Ireland, and T In The Park.
The band’s most poignant single, and live favourite, ‘Woman,’ is also their most successful release to date – reaching Number 31 in the UK charts and number seven in the US.
Wolfmother’s old-school rock sound has brought them considerable success across America, where they’ve toured extensively, as well as played a number of major festivals.
