British Sea Power have confirmed that their keyboardist Eamon Hamilton has departed ways with the group.
Hamilton is now going to dedicate all his time to indie supergroup Brakes as they seek stardom.
A statement on British Sea Power’s website joked that he would not be returning to the band for their headline performance at Glastonbury 2007.
It read: “Due to the ongoing success of his other band, Brakes, British Sea Power keyboardist Eamon has now left BSP to pursue Brakes glory full-time. All remains fully amicable between the five men of BSP past and present.
”Further, it is not unlikely that Eamon will return for the BSP headlining slot at Glastonbury 2007. In the meantime we all wish him well. Brakes are on tour with the Editors and Belle & Sebastian through January, February and March.”
It continued: “Eamon's departure creates the most exciting vacancy in rock since 1998. BSP will soon announce a nationwide series of open auditions for the post, while early frontrunners for the job include Charlotte Church and Frodo, the up-front alpha-male on BBC1's Chimp Week.”
Funny guys.
