From Tyneside rather than Detroit
The Motorettes' 'Super Heartbeats' is the sound of a band striving to express the vitality of youth, love and escape from small town drudgery through the rush of perfect pop punk. There’s plenty of energy, it comes in a mite over the perfect 3 minute mark and the vocals remind slightly of Roddy Womble back when Idlewild where a snarly loud (and young) group. Unfortunately for all that the songs badly served by uninspired chords and a call and response chorus that far outstays its welcome. All too forgettable, unfortunately.
