Wolfmother – 'Mind’s Eye' (Modular) Released 09/01/06

Wolfmother have split opinion in their native Australia. Are they powerful retro-rockers drawing on the best aspects of Led Zep and Black Sabbath, or are they piss-takers ripping off the worst aspects of Led Zep and Black Sabbath? Judging by the content’s of 'Mind’s Eye’s' archly-cosmic record sleeve, Wolfmother have their tongues firmly placed in their liberally side-burned cheeks. Overblown riffage and trite far-out lyrics are one thing, but the organ solo’s straight out of Spinal Tap’s Stonehenge! It’s all convincingly executed though, so it’s not inconceivable Wolfmother could do for psychedelic-rock what The Darkness did for cock-rock.
