A series of events are taking place around the world today remembering John Lennon 25 years after his death.
In Lennon’s home city of Liverpool hundreds of white balloons are being released at midday from the Albert Dock, while an image of John will be projected on to St Georges Hall at 4.30 pm.
A service commemorating his life will be held at Our Lady and St Nicholas Parish Church at 3pm.
Elsewhere, Paul Weller, Jamie Cullum and Lulu are performing at the famous Abbey Road Studios in honour of the great man, while Badly Drawn Boy, Katie Melua and Sugababes are some of the artists performing covers of Lennon songs at a separate show for Radio 2.
Dr John and Daryl Hall are performing in a new New York tribute show later today.
A special event is due to be held at Strawberry Fields in Central Park near to where Lennon was killed by Mark Chapman.
Virgin Megastore in London held a one minute silence for the ex-Beatle at 11 o’clock this morning.
