Bob Dylan Snubs British Music Industry

Bob Dylan - snubber extraordinaireThe legendary Desire artist unambiguously delivered a belting snub to the British music industry – by refusing to be present at his induction to the UK Music Hall of Fame.

Organisers of the extravagant ceremony at Alexandra Palace are said to be deeply upset that Dylan refused to attend the occasion, which was broadcast on TV last night. Unlike other recipients of the honour, such as The Beatles and The Rolling StonesDylan wouldn’t even make a video acceptance speech.

Instead, US actor Woody Harrelson, a very tenuous acquaintance of Dylan’s, accepted the accolade on his behalf. In a sheepish speech he said he’d pass it on to Bob, in the unlikely event Dylan came to watch his forthcoming West End play.

The Independent assert that Dylan’s no show was a particular snub because the ceremony was timed to coincide with the singer’s arrival in the UK. Organisers offered to schedule the event around his tour dates, but apparently Dylan’s office didn’t return their calls, they comment:

“We have made every effort to get him to accept it in person or with a video message, but he obviously prefers to remain as enigmatic as ever.”

Meanwhile, Dylan’s spokesman asserted: “I don’t know about a video message, but I know he’s thrilled to be in the hall of fame.”

Yeah, we're sure he's been walking on air for days.
