    Malcolm Mclaren Court Case Dismissed

    No proof of plagiarism...

November 11, 2005 by Daniel Melia

The plagiarism case against former Sex Pistols manager Malcolm Mclaren has been thrown out by a French court.

Musician Benjamin Beduneau alleged that Mclaren had stolen one of his songs ‘Sound Smith’ and used it under the name ‘About Her’ on the soundtrack for the film Kill Bill 2.

The court in Angers ruled that there was insufficient proof of plagiarism and ordered Bedunaeu, also known as Lancelot, to pay 1500 euros (£1008) in “procedural damages” to Mclaren reports the BBC.

Beduneau contended that the music was submitted to McLaren for a tribute project to fashion designer Christian Dior. He also said that he’d registered the song with the French performers rights body Sacem in 2003.
