Punk rockers, The Stranglers have signed an album deal with their old label EMI after nearly twenty five years.
The Stranglers, were one of the seminal bands to emerge from the punk music scene of the late seventies. They have scored many hits in their career, such as ‘No More Heroes’, ‘Peaches’, ‘Golden Brown’ and ‘Always The Sun’. They were originally fronted by lead singer Hugh Cornwell, who left the band over a decade ago.
Their bass player JJ Burnel has said that they’ve honed their line up and that EMI saw the chemistry after seeing them play live. He also went onto say that the new album would be a lot harder edged than previous efforts. The album, as yet untitled, is scheduled for release in February 2004.
Meanwhile, The Stranglers will be joining UB40 for a UK tour in November and December.
