Internet and Sky +

A melting-pot of meaninglessness

Postby LittleVixen on Fri Sep 19, 2008 1:14 am

I was just wondering if getting that Sky+ Internet and landline package deal is worth doing? And how much would I prob end up paying a month after all the 'hidden extras'

I would prob only use the phone to make 'free landline' calls.

Also, do you get the Sky box for free if 'reccomended'?

Im rubbish with stuff like this and dont want to get ripped off.

Or, would I be better getting Virgin?

Your basic Sky internet has a download limit which you'll hafta pay by the gigabyte for once you exceed it, Virgin doesn't have this limit.

Better yet, don't let Murdoch into your life, jib off the telly and read some books.

;-)

slightly tongue in cheek... wish I could do this, though. I don't watch telly anymore unless I'm in the company of people who do!

we just got a sky + HD thing with phone and internet coz where we moved to doesnt have cable (Virgin was great). The annoying thing with sky is that you have to have a BT phone line and pay line rental to them (about 10 a month) but the other costs will depend on what you want. If you take the phone in a package, calls on that will be free. TV can be anything from 15 - 40 a month depending and then internet is free if you have basic access and limited downloads - you can go unlimited for about 10 a month. I think in total we pay about 45 a month for it all in. (phone, BT, unlimited internet and sky+ HD with sky sports - so there is loads there you could take off)

I love sky+ its the best.

I agree with DYTHSU but i have no self control for shit telly and recording and pausing stuff.

If I recommend you (or any other sky user for that matter) then you get a free Sky + box :)

I think Sky is fine and wouldn't touch Virgin with a shitty stick after trying their cable and mobile services. Btw if you want sky + then you need your own dish (can't share one if in a batchelorette pad etc)

you can get line rental off sky after its installed.

its worth getting vixen, you can get a 40 gig a month download limit on the broadband for a fiver a month. unless your downloading millions of songs you'll never use all that up in a month. and the unlimited talktime is only a fiver too, you just have to hang up and re dial after an hour.

and sky+ is the business.

i'm with virgin, i wouldn't recommend them, but what's you're alternative??? sky?

the tv i'm not arsed about, it's all crap. i do like the virgin replay & catch up tv thing which means you can watch programs without the adverts.

phone, probably all the same (ish) any calls i make on my mobile usually to use up the free minutes

the internet is a rock solid connection, had it five years and not 1 problem, apart from when i don't pay the bill & they cut me off.... C**ts!!!!

what i do hate though is paying for crap like dave & uk gold and all those other shit channels you never watch, you'd think in this day & age you'd just be able to buy the channels you want.

sorry, i've been a load of help here haven't i, drifting off mid sentence into a moan.

I've just got free view. If I miss anything I'll just watch it on the PC. I just pay £25 for me phone line and broadband.

Thanks everyone! Some great help there (not sarcastic I promise)

I think I will go for it. I will prob not use t'internet for loads of downloads so that shouldnt be a problem.

I'll just have to find out now if I can get it installed in the flat. When you say I need my own dish, does that mean I can take it when I move on??

some flats are all connected up when they are built and you just individually subscribe. mine didnt. and the developers of our didnt even think to put a phone line in. clever.
