The problem is, everyone who shops there already knows that someone has been exploited to make the garments.
It just I cant see how people can rationlise gaining a bargain over slavery and exploation of adults and children in the third world. Is it easier because of distance or does it come down to the old phrase 'If they didn't do this they would be worse off'.
I think that we have a responsability to all people to think about what it is we truly gain and what part of our humanity we lose from the flippant decisions of what we wear.
I would like to be free of this guilt as I find it difficult to buy ethically (because of cost and because all companies use this policy) but I still try to find the solutions and not just disregard the impact of wearing cheap clothing.

primark have always had loads of criticisms on sweat shops, but this is the most irrefutable evidence i've seen for a long time (even if they did move swiftly). which is a shame, cos i love a bargain but i guess i won't be going back (esp as marksies sell cotton t's for 3.50 anyway)

primark are an easy target though, cos generally it's a place where people on a low income shop. pretty much all high street clothing are made by 2 year olds on £2 a year. you'll get dickheads feeling great about themselves cos they don't shop in primark but have nike trainers or summit.

Fucking hell, a coherent post with grammar and spelling and everything. And a fugazi quote to boot.

I'm beginning to like you.

mattas, fruit stalls, ok who makes shoes, i'll spend a ton, over the odds if you get me a pair of shoes that someone has made and no-one was enslaved, it's a deal folks!. i think i need to spend my money in local shops that support the local economy. it's really hard though when you need adidas trabs innit?

who said there's no excuse for bad footwear?
