The first Rock Werchter music festival took place in 1977. Since then the festival, which takes place in the village of Werchter in Belgium, has become on of the worlds most respected music festivals.
Whilst early editions of the festival saw performances from The Kinks, U2 and Van Morrison, it’s in the 21st century that the festival has really blossomed. After it was extended to a four day jaunt in 2004, the festival won the 2003, 2005 and 2006 Arthur Awrds for Best Festival In The World.
Set over two stages only – the Main Stage and the Pyramid Marquee – Rock Werchter’s main asset is it’s star packed line ups.
It’s no wonder the festival is often heralded as the Glastonbury of Belgium.
