OK, there's no avoiding this: alt-J are named after the keyboard command needed on a mac to input a ∆ symbol into your document. Yes, really.
Still here? OK then you're in luck because they're also brilliant and one of the most unusual, interesting bands in the UK right now.
alt-J are Gwil Sainsbury [guitar/bass], Joe Newman [guitar/vocals], Gus Unger-Hamilton [keyboards] and Thom Green [drums] and they're due to release their debut album, An Awesome Wave, on 28 May via Infectious Music (These New Puritans, The Temper Trap, Local Natives)
Having toured with Wild Beasts and Ghost Poet, alt-J have spent the past few months crafting their quirk-pop into something truly special and with singles like their debut 'Tesselate' and both sides of the brilliant recent AA side Matilda and Fitzpleasure we're sure that the debut album is going to be something special indeed.
A UK tour is planned with two shows at London's African Centre on April 12/ 13 as well as festival appearances at The Great Escape, Bestival and Green Man.
Check out new single 'Breezeblocks' below and educate yourself on the wonderful world of alt-J.
