Liverpool's Cracatilla have been out of the limelight for the last few months, but they've not been sat twiddling their thumbs, they've in fact been twiddling some knobs, as they've been busy recording their new album.
The band made a name for themselves on the live scene last year with blistering performances and their debut single 'What Do I Know', a melancholic sprawling epic that was remixed by Badly Drawn Boy producer Gary Wilkinson. James, Dave and Louis made such an impact on the guy he started his own label and signed them to it.
The first release for the label, Industry of Cool, will see the lads new single 'You've Got It All', a live favourite, make a bid for the UK's pop chart, a place where the band are happy to be. The single is a more upbeat affair than last years release, it's chorus of "You've got it all" stomps along in a workman like manner and is reminiscent of The Christians (no kids not those Christians). The single is a double A side, paired with the more sombre 'Everyman'.
To celebrate the launch of the new single Cracatilla (named after the active volcanic mountain Krakatoa, but misheard by James) will be playing a gig afloat the Mersey on the good ship Royal Daffodil on June 5th, sailing from Pierhead at 8pm. Tickets are available from the usual outlets unless you're a smart Gigwise reader then you can win yourself a pair of tickets by entering our piece of piss competition. The event will be a star-studded party with London's media and recording industry hordes descending upon the land of scouse.
