In March 2009 Gigwise will be hiking up a mountain in Austria to watch some bands, are we mad? Yes we are! You see we'll be at the tenth instalment of the now legendary Snowbombing festival in Mayrhofen enjoying plenty of après-ski no doubt and if you're in a band we'll be giving you the chance to not only join us on the slopes but to play live at the festival too!
Gigwise has joined forces with the people at Snowbombing to sponsor the King of the Mountain competition which will see four bands plucked from hundreds, if not thousands, and as we've already intimated, given the chance to travel to Austria and play at the event on the side of a mountain – the question is, are you man enough?!
One band will then be selected from our four finalists to go on and support one of the major acts during the event and claim a cash prize of 2000 Euros.
For the uninitiated, Snowbombing hosts the largest music line-up on snow…in the world!! They transform a beautiful Austrian village into a seething, throbbing festival, comprising of 13 venues from huge indoor arenas, an igloo at the top of the mountain, an amazing wooden clearing to parties on the street.
Bands can find out more details about the competition and sign up to be in with a chance of winning by visiting the King Of The Mountain homepage. All acts wishing to enter must have signed up by January 31.
