Gigwise will be revealing our Top 50 Albums of the year next week, we are currently busy collating the votes from all our writers and readying the list, but before then we have asked several of our favourite acts of 2007 to name their own favourite records of the past twelve months. First up we have Oxford based quintet Foals who have each picked an album and given us their reasons for loving it.
Yannis
Matthew Dear – ‘Asa Breed’
“Because it has more than two incredible songs on it and i still don't understand the lyrics and it's amazing.”
Walter
Kim Hiorthoy - 'My Last Day'
“Thoughtful spacious electronica, I love this record. He’s Norwegian and this is his third full length album. Best one is 'Hei' though. Definitely a headphones record too I think.... good ones.”
Edwin
Jamie T – ‘Panic Prevention’
“I thought he was just some gobby shite from London who'd got a record deal because of he speaks funny. But then I actually heard his album and then I couldn't stop listening to it. Turns out he's amazing. Just goes to show I suppose.”
Jack
Yeasayer – ‘All Hour Cymbals’
"Best debut album I’ve heard in ages. The production and vocals are really incredible."
Jimmy
Radiohead – ‘In Rainbows’
"My album of the year is ‘In Rainbows’ by Radiohead. Appeals to me on so many levels, I think the balance of synth and guitar, the processed with the organic, is perfect on this one. I love this band so I’ll always be biased and a fan boy, but they've done what they do best, quietly released the best album of the year, blowing away the competition, if there's any left by this point."
Foals release their latest single 'Balloons' on December 10
