After two years of absence and one nervous breakdown, The Vines returned to the fray with their long anticipated second album and a UK tour. 'Winning Days' was released on March 23 through Heavenly/EMI and is the follow-up to the Australian quartet's hit debut album 'Highly Evolved'.
With producer Rob Schnapf (Beck, Guided By Voices, Elliot Smith) back on board, this album attempts to move into more complex melodic territory and straddles a wide variety of musical styles (from the folk song 'Rainfall' to the acoustic balladry of 'Autumn Shade 2' and the psychedelia of 'TV Pro'). It also comes as a positive antidote to the anger and pessimism of 'Highly Evolved' although it hasn't quite delivered on the same scale.
We've got the video for their next single, the title track from the album 'Winning days' to be released on May 17th. Check it out, tell us what you think!
