After spinning the new Hard-Fi album, ‘Once Upon A Time In The West,’ endlessly over the weekend – to the extent that its continuous revolution drilled a whole in the base of my laptop – I made my way across London yesterday to finally meet its makers.
Now, the Gigwise office opinion of Hard-Fi is very much a microcosm of people’s opinions of the band in general – some love their tales of suburbia and some, well, really don’t.
Never the less, I made my way across London, from east to west, trying to overcome the usual daily tube problems that fall down in front of commuters like massacred trees in a rain forest.
After finally making it to their record label, and being greeted by a receptionist who was literally the South African version of Jack Bauer, I eventually got to chat with the band.
So how were Hard-Fi? Well besides being in a rush and over running, incredibly nice. Obviously passionate about their new material - which is far more personal than ‘Stars Of CCTV’ – Richard (Archer) spoke in depth about where the lyrics came from and just what it was like to put such personal, family lyrics down on paper.
To hear just what they had to say then stay tuned for a full feature with the band on Gigwise in the coming weeks. In the meantime, feel free to discuss what you think of Hard-Fi in the shape of a comment below.
