About
Suns of Banditos have been gigging nationally for the last year and are establishing themselves good fan bases outside their local area in cities such as Leeds and Manchester. The five piece band have a unique sound which can only be described as a subtle blend of rock ‘n’ roll, Indie, funk and psychadelia. Their music evolves from their healthy mix of appreciation of artists such as The Stone Roses, Primal Scream, Nick Cave and Pink Floyd, but it would be hard to place them in one particular genre, as their style is so original.
Suns of Banditos is Craig (vocals), Rob (guitar), Reece (guitar), Jim (bass) and Alex (drums). The guys have been gigging all over so keep checking their myspace for updates of gig dates, www.myspace.com/sunsofbanditos.
Described as “looking like a motley bunch of neerdowell bandits themselves they showed unexpected grace in their playing and plenty of contrast across the band members. While the songs maybe lacked something in structure and variety it was more than made up for in attitude. This is a band with real lower class cred who are not bothering with the Manc outdoor wear, gum chewing or unblinking blank stares tribute thing. Instead it’s all pitched down with a repressed, volatile energy which intriguingly leaks out from some fine unprepossessing playing which sets it all up nicely for Craig’s well honed dark, intense and masculine vocal. It’s magnificent and important.” Pete from Lincoln Bands.
Suns of Banditos reached the semi finals of this year’s national Surface Unsigned competition, where they wowed judges in Leeds and Manchester with their intense tunes and strong guitar riffs. The band wiped the floor with their sound, and received the highest score of the night!
They also reached the national finals of the Global Battle of the Bands, where the final was hosted at The Jam House in Birmingham.
Like all unsigned bands, Suns of Banditos are hungry to have their music heard, and to also put their own mark on music. They need to be seen live to truly appreciate the enormous amount of raw talent they have between them., so check them out. You will not be disappointed!
