About
Stop The Blackout surfaced after four like-minded musicians agreed Manchester was in need of an exciting new project. Having seen so many quality acts just give up, the band decided things were to change. Time has seen their music evolve into something unique. Their music combines bright modern indie-esq pop tunes with a dark and experimental twist. This is due to a belief that a band should be able to write without boundaries.
The band has played with numerous top acts such as 'Editors’ and ‘Oceansize’ and more recently a tour support to Indie chart-toppers 'One Night Only' after they personally selected 'Stop The Blackout' from thousands of top acts to come and play the Manchester leg of their Sold Out UK Tour.
They have been described as ‘Beautiful’ and ‘World Class’ by Clint Boon (XFM / Inspiral Carpets) after appearing on his ‘Music Response’ on XFM and been played on Alex Zane’s MySpace Chart Show. The band has been likened to acts such as ‘Coldplay’, ‘Elbow’ and ‘U2’, with their music being described as ‘Anthemic’. Having also headlined rammed gigs around the UK including 'Club Fandango' (Fierce Panda Records), 229 in London and Manchester's Academy 2 & 3', they believe the strength of Stop The Blackout lies in their live set. With regular airplay and articles in the press their aim is to get as much exposure as possible.
Working almost completely independently, 'Stop The Blackout' generally write, record, produce and design everything you see and hear. With a debut album already recorded, the aim is to put this out there to the masses. In November 2008 the band recorded at the multi-award winning ‘Motor Museum Studios’ in Liverpool owned by Andy McCluskey of O.M.D. The record was produced by ‘Arctic Monkeys’ co-producer Simon Cullwick. With growing interest, who knows when this album will surface…
