About
(Decent) Indie frontwomen are a rare breed but with a frontwoman described as a ‘Telecaster wielding minx’, Sandbox have started the last three years being tipped as ‘ones to watch’ in Manchester.
After finally finding a guitarist who fits and finishing 2008 on a high with a clutch of radio sessions and a run of their best live shows to date – 2009 sees SANDBOX starting the year refreshed, louder than ever (if that’s possible!) and ready to finally fulfil their potential.
SANDBOX ARE ON FIRE.
Here’s to 2009 … See you at the front, jumping around with a warm glow in your stomach, a happy heart and a smile on your face...

"Are Sandbox the most charming band in the world? I believe that they are. In a rough 'n' ready Saturday night Roadhouse, Sandbox flutter their eyelids at you and make you believe that you're the only one in the room. They seduce you with their melodies; "Thin Ice" and "Million Marlboro Lights" are the musical equivalents of being chatted up at the jukebox, and before you know it; you're writing your mobile number on the back of a beer mat. So, I found myself falling for them again. Am I just easy? or are Sandbox experts at getting you back to their place? Go and find out for yourself. I defy anyone to resist." "Sandbox have a Telecaster wielding minx at the front who can sing and play whilst still looking amazing. At a time when there seems to be an influx of bands with exciting sticks men (Arctics/Bloc Party et al), Sandbox have a ‘Matt Helders’ in the making in the shape of their phenomenal drummer. CATCH THEM NOW!" (This is Music Fanzine) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"DRY BAR is in a better swing than yesterday and SANDBOX are a very interesting new wave beat combo. A four piece comprising of three boys and a central girl, who wields a mean guitar and a really smart haircut. Whilst style is ever important here, it is backed up with some well turned out rock, bristling with crack shot drumming and youthfully handled guitars. The singer though has a fantastic appeal, generating a gutsy comparison with Penetrations Pauline Murray and some sounds that aren't that far away either, from the new wave rock sounds of the late 70’s."
