About
Night Parade are the real deal, no doubt about it, there is nothing fake, manufactured or spare about them. They are a keen and lean music making machine. Hungry, passionate, dedicated, focussed and on the verge of releasing there stunning debut album ‘Heaven Knows”. It’s been a long journey to get to this point. Leaving aside the inevitable comparisons that come about simply for being ‘four lads from Liverpool’, Night Parade have successfully assimilated a raft of influences in an entirely unique way. The Liverpool influence is there, alongside shades of Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello (A Good Year For The Roses period), Paul Weller (Wild Wood era), Snow Patrol and Crowded House. You also have to respect a band that opens there debut album with a track called “Fifty Stone Lover” and ends on a song called “Holy” (it’s the law apparently, a poetic approach to track sequencing should be rewarded).
Night Parade got together through a mutual love of football in 2007, congregating around the lyrical song writing and vocal talents of frontman/acoustic guitarist Rob Vincent, who was then joined by Matt Carrigan (Bass), Jay Whittaker (Guitars) and Sean Holland (Drums). They signed to the Creative Recording Company in 2010 and have released two EPs, Havoc and Did You Ever for the label.
Night Parade have gigged consistently since 2007, attracting the attention of 4 Music who praised their “sublime guitar pop sound”. They have recorded live sets for BBC Radio Merseyside’s Dave Monk Show and for Southport’s Dune FM and have regularly been featured in the Northwest’s Regional Press. They also played the world famous Mathew Street Festival in Liverpool. Night Parade’s live following in the region has grown to such an extent that they can now play the O2 Academy in Liverpool.
In an era where sampling and auto-tune reigns supreme Night Parade have taken the longer route to success, by really developing themselves through playing. The benefit of this approach really showed when it came to recording Heaven Knows. The album was recorded and mixed in 14 days and the intention was to capture the full energy of the live shows. Producer and Internationally renowned musician Phil Spalding says; “They are true musicians, a working band, that can deliver every time”.
Night Parade will release a limited edition regional version of Heaven Knows this December, ahead of the full-scale physical and digital release of the album in 2011. Given that the mainstream industry is a hard nut to crack even for acts signed to a major labels the band wanted to consolidate and affirm there local support first before turning there attention to National and International issues.
Night Parade have already attracted the attention of various heavy weight rock royalty types (Media Types a list is available upon application, but we won’t get into it here as it can be distracting) and a strong level of support from the public in the North West. There is something assured and refreshing about a band that is entirely willing to rely on the strength of their performing and song writing talent to propel them forward. It is a resprctful nod at a rock orthodoxy that has been lost for a while and which gave rise to some great British albums throughout the 60s and 70s. Sampling and technology may have created a boom time for many DJ’s and producers, but sometimes there is no substitute for recording an honest performance. Heaven Knows is that simple thing, brilliant songs and performances, faithfully reproduced.
