Lyla Foy's songs touch a raw nerve. Painfully beautiful spills effortlessly into happy, childlike and kitsch. While Lyla has all the appeal of an indie solo artist, her songs have an unquestionably commercial touch, intricately arranged by her 6-piece band. Although the project is still very young, Lyla's prolific writing and steely determination have enabled an entirely self-funded debut album recording at Abbey Road this month.
