Hailing from a place within; futures. is a story of loves lost and loves found. From tales of adventure, to tails of utter despair; we stand, hand in hand, holding onto eternity. A time to begin again. Combining a love for the lyrics of Ben Gibbard's Death Cab for Cutie with melodic Jeff Buckley-esque vocals, Joel Horne is futures. Following debut album release 'New York Kiss' with Chichester based Indie band 'Retrofect', this latest offering is a raw collection of diary-like expressions captured in the vessel of a song. Joel, always wanted to be a musician. From a young age he was exposed to sounds such as John Martyn, Led Zeppelin and Joni Mitchell. Brought up in the south coast town of Littlehampton, he soon explored his love for performing and writing his own music - playing almost any instrument he could get his hands on. The project became futures. in 2008 following a turbulent year which has seen Joel write a very autobiographical set of songs; songs that give fleeting glimpses of broken relationships, times of tension & the loss of a great friendships. But delving deeper into the lyrics - you will find themes of romance, of hope and of belief in the bigger picture.
