Badly spelt boys . . . .Dlugokecki are a musical project fronted by Ben Dlugokecki (pronounced- Der-loo-go-ken-ski) - An extraordinarily talented 25 year old prolific singer/songwriter based in Southampton, England. He is joined by Andy Wild (Keys, vocals), Marie Kitchen (Cello, vocals), Boyd (Drums) & Aidan Hampson (Bass). Their music has been compared to the likes of David Gray, Paul Simon and Damian Rice.
They were also instrumental in pulling together Starsailor,Chris Difford,Kathryn Williams & Neill Maccoll,Passenger,The Matthew Jay Band,Henrik,Medi & The Medicine Show,Helen Boulding at the Shepherds Bush Empire where they all honoured a mutal inspiration :the late,great Matthew Jay at the critically acclaimed "Further Than Tomorrow " concert highlighting Amnesty's "Protect The Human" & Unicef's "Born Free" campaigns . . . .and a result of which; Dlugokecki have been invited to play 2009's SXSW . . !
Four of their biggest shows to date were supporting million-selling artists 'David Gray', 'Snow Patrol', 'Corinne-Bailey Rae' and 'Lu Lu' on their world tours, playing to thousands of people.
Some other highlights over the last 4 years include reaching the final 8 of the 'Sennheiser Best Unsigned Artist 2004' out of 2000 entries, playing the 2006 ASCAP showcase at the London Barfly, having his music in the i-tunes music store, being named artist of the month on the 'Musician's Channel' on Sky and his debut music video played daily.
Their music has been used on the soundtrack of Channel 4 (UK) hit show Ny-Lon, he has recorded in Metropolis Studio, London and had a twelve-day session in Ibiza and recently had four tracks heavily featured in episodes of Channel 4's "Hollyoaks".
They have also played alongside 'Mouldy Peaches', 'Ben's Brother', 'Sandi Thom' three times, 'Paddy Casey', 'The Bluetones', 'Nerina Pallot', 'Goodbooks', 'The Drifters', 'John Power (CAST/The La's)' and main support to 'Nizlopi'
In 2006, Dlugokecki released a collection of Studio Recordings called 'Before The Storm'. In 2007, The 'How Do You Do?' UK tour was a massive success - with Dlugokecki performances at the top of the Spinnaker Tower (Portsmouth), Old Trafford (Manchester United's football stadium), Stonehenge, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, The Ferry across the Mersey and at 3,200ft at the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales. The tour resulted in a mass media exposure - including segments on BBC Radio, newspapers and BBC One News.
This year Dlugokecki will complete and release their debut album, through independent record label 'And Records'. With over 30 superb songs to choose from it's going to be an enjoyable task and a great year for the band.
