Patrick Wolf

Born in London in 1983, Patrick Wolf has become known as a prolific multi-instrumentalist and singer/song-writer.

Born into a creative family, Wolf was introduced to music at an early age, when he began violin lessons and took part in Church choirs. As well as attending King’s College School until the age of fourteen, Wolf experimented with music in his own time – including producing his own compositions on a four track recorder.

When Wolf turned sixteen, he left home, choosing to live by himself. Although he spent most of his time busking around London, Wolf also joined Maison Crimineaux, a noisy pop band. It was at a Maison Crimineaux show in France where Wolf met Kristian Robinson, who would later go on to produce his debut solo album, ‘Lycanthropy.’

Released in 2003 on Fat Cat Records, ‘Lycanthropy,’ was described as a “survival instinct” by Wolf in the face of ones fears. The Album received much critical acclaim upon its release.

After touring the album, Wolf went on to release ‘Wind In The Wires’ in 2005. Like its predecessor it received much critical acclaim, and this time – due to its greater accessibility - it also alerted more people to Wolf’s talent.

Thanks to his growing public popularity, Wolf signed to Loog Records at the end of 2005, prior to beginning work on his third solo album. The album, entitled, ‘The Magic Position,’ was eventually released in early 2007 and proved to be his most commercially successful album to date. Highlighting Wolf’s growing status, the album featured collaborations with Edward Larrikin (Larrikin Love) and Marianne Faithfull.

With Wolf’s popularity at an all time high, he shocked fans in April 2007 when he announced that he would be taking a beak from touring. He said: “"I have made a decision, my final concert will be this November, a retrospective with an orchestra in London.” Although originally it was seen as a complete retirement from music, Wolf added that he would still produce music.
