Michael Jackson Funeral 'Will Eclipse Elvis And Princess Diana'

If it's made public...

Share

Michael Jackson's funeral would likely attract the biggest television audience in history, according to reports.

Although final funeral plans have yet to be released, it has been claimed that Jackson will have a public procession, followed by a private burial.

If televised, the event could be watched by as many as 750million viewers, while thousands would attend in person.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jackson's relatives are uncertain over how approach the ceremony because some are “strongly opposed to the idea of hordes of fans trampling over Michael's grave”.

But when asked in 1992 about his funeral, Jackson said: "It's going to be the greatest show on earth. That's what I want. Fireworks and everything."

Stars from stage and screen are expected to attend the singer's funeral.

Beyonce, Elizabeth Taylor and Sir Paul McCartney are among the stars who have paid tribute to Jackson over recent days.

Meanwhile, the newspaper claims US president Barack Obama could also attend the ceremony.

Jackson died following a suspected heart attack at his home in Los Angeles on Thursday.

His sudden death at the age of 50 has raised concern about the star's alleged dependency on prescription drugs.

  • MICHAEL'S LIFE WAS HIGHLY SCRUTINISED BY THE MEDIA AND PUBLIC SO MUCH THAT IT IMPACTED ON HIM IN A REGRESSIVE MANNER. MICHAEL WAS FORCED TO MAKE COMMENTS ON THE USE OF PAIN KILLERS AS IF HE WAS AN ADDICT. HE WAS SCANDALISED IN MOLESTATION FRAMES THOUGH HE WAS INNOCENT. HE HAS A LOVING CARING FAMILY AND GOOD UP BRINGING. IT IS REGRETTABLE THAT SUCH A GREAT SUPERSTAR MET SUCH A TRAGIC END. HIS MUSIC TRANDESCENDS RACIAL BARRIERS. MY CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY WHO MISS HIM. JOE MUNRUDDIN BRO

    • Its so sad that it came to this. His music was uplifting and fun. Thats what you get in america for being timid, having a big heart and rich! He was all over the planet and never accused of harming any child, not one! Only in the America. Notice when he was out of money the accusations stopped! I hope everyone is happy with his money and are satisfied now. There are truly no words for a tradegy of this magnitude! I cant believe you are gone, its so sad. Forever sad.

  • Totally agree Joe Munruddin Bro. Michael went through so much. How he coped I don't know. The world has lost someone unique who can never be replaced. So sad - so very very sad. He transcended all the things humans fight over - and was an amazing person.

  • Even though he was all over the world, only in the United States was he ever accused of harming a child. He should have never paid the first one and fought, that was his big mistake! Its called extortion. His songs were not vulger or degraded anyone in any way. He paid for terminally ill children to come to his home and live it up with 24hr care. Dam all of you who let this happen. He tried to bring happeness to our world and got paid in misery! Its hard to say goodbye, Its so sad, RIP Michael.

  • I've enjoyed dancing and listening to your music for years. There never was, nor will ever be, another artist like you. No one can hold a candle to you. You were blessed with an enormous talent and you shared it with the world. I thought you were an awesome person, and performer. You were as gentle as a lamb and an extremely loving person. I'm sure your parents and siblings were very proud of you and loved you very much. May God grant you eternal peace in heaven.

  • I agree with the comments on how he was so hounded by his stardom. It is such a tragedy that someone with such brilliant talent led such a sad withdrawn life. Talent should be a gift not a chain. I don't mourne his passing. I mourn the many things in life he missed out on & sacrificed to give us so much. He was so misunderstood & that is so sad. My prayers are for his family that they will be comforted & find peace.

  • A POSTHUMOUS LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT BET AWARD SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO EITHER JANET OR JOE JACKSON FOR MICHAEL WHICH IF HE HAD LIVED WOULD HAVE BEEN TRULY DESERVING TO HIM ANYWAY. MAY I REQUEST THE SAME ON BEHALF OF HIS NUMEROUS FANS TO DEBRA LEE FOR 2010 BET AWARDS. I AM ALSO PLEASED THAT OTHERS SHARE MY OPINION ON MICHAEL BEING A REALLY GOOD AND EXTREMELY TALENTED ARTISTE WHO WILL NOT BE EASILY REPLACED. JOEMUNRUDDIN@GMAIL.COM
