Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello has hailed Barack Obama's victory in the US presidential elections.

In an interview with Spinner, Morello said he was overwhelmed and said Mr Obama's win could be revolutinary for America.

"I honestly thought I'd never live to see this day. Obama's election is a huge step towards civilization for a country whose past is so steeped in racism,” he said.

But Morello, who is currently on a solo US tour, said it was “imperative” that Americans don't forget to campaign on issues close to their heart just because of Mr Obama has made it to the White House.

"I think it's imperative for us to continue to organize and push for human rights, peace, and economic justice no matter who is in the White House,” he said.

“Undoing the domestic and international crimes of the Bush administration will not be easy."

Morello is the latest in a long list of musicians who have expressed their satisfaction with Mr Obama's triumph.

  • Being in the band Rage Against The Machine should mean you hate the 2 party system and the puppet leaders they offer, not praising it. Skin color doesn't matter anymore. We need to worry about more severe issues (i.e. those who are planning and implementing a one-world government (Council on Foreign Relations)). Google "New World Order" and its history to the Freemasons who have secretly ruled this country behind closed doors since it's conception. All will be enslaved

  • It makes me happy and confident to hear a person like Tom Morello commend a presidential candidate. If he approves, I do too.

  • Political party is just as much an illusion as skin color...I was hoping to find some type of outspoken oppisition to the polititions who have sold the us by paving the way for big bis. and big govt. here instead Tom has ither been blind to the recent developments or has joined forces with those people. I wanted to hear an album or at least a thought from rage that speaks to the people of a new kind of know your enemy (NWO) Instead we are still fed false promises by a face for change.
