Cream's Jack Bruce: 'Led Zeppelin Are Crap'

Cream bassist Jack Bruce have criticised the constant speculation over the future of Led Zeppelin – and branded the band “crap”.

Bruce told Classic Rock that he believed Cream, who reformed in 2005 for a series of special concerts, are “10 times the band that Led Zeppelin is.”

"Everybody talks about Led Zeppelin [reforming], and they played one fucking gig – one fucking lame gig – while Cream did weeks of gigs [during their 2005 reunion]; proper gigs, not just a lame gig like Zeppelin did, with all the [vocal] keys lowered and everything. We played everything in the original keys,” he said.

"Fuck off, Zeppelin, you're crap. You've always been crap and you'll never be anything else. The worst thing is that people believe the crap that they're sold. Cream is 10 times the band that Led Zeppelin is."

Bruce had a similar evaluation of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who is also branded “crap”.

Led Zeppelin Tour

Calls for a full Led Zeppelin reunion tour have been relentless since the bands reunion show at the O2 Arena last December - which attracted 1 million applicants for just 9,000 pairs of tickets.

The band's bassist John Paul Jones, said recently that he, Page and drummer Jason Bonham planned to tour together minus singer Robert Plant.

Plant ruled himself out of touring with Led Zeppelin again in September, saying that he found the constant speculation around the band's future “frustrating and ridiculous”.

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Chris Cornell are the latest singers to be linked to the vacant position.

  • oh that's horrible. I love Cream but his attitude is really bad. It makes him sound bitter. I think both bands are great but Cream are probably more musical than the Zeppelin boys (apart from JPJ) but Zeppelin's songs are more creatively crafted. He needs some anger management. I get that Cream are not as lauded - I agree with that but you just have to deal with it. Bitterness will put people off even more. Let the work speak for itself. I imagine he was asked a leading question, thoug

  • Cream sold 35 million albums worldwide-Led Zeppelin sold 300 million albums worldwide! It looks like the "Cream" never rose to the top!!! They just became "Sour Cream".

  • I don't agree that Led Zep are crap, in fact they're very good, but Cream are better, Jack Bruce is one of the best bassists around, especially when he was with Cream
