Ne-Yo: 'Michael Jackson Is Nervous About What Fans Will Think Of New Album'

US R&B star Ne-Yo has revealed that Michael Jackson is nervous about what fans and critics will think of his new album.

Ne-Yo is one of a host of artist who have submitted songs for Jackson's as-yet-untitled record, the follow-up to 2001's 'Invincible'.

The album was due to be released before the end of 2008 but it now looks likely that the release date will be changed to next year.

Speaking about Jackson's hesitation over the record, Ne-Yo said: “He keeps putting it off. Michael is very nervous as he knows he's the underdog and people want him to fail.

"It's tough when all eyes are on him and there is so much young competition out there. This album needs to be better than 'Thriller'. He wants killer melodies."

Ne-Yo also told the Mirror that he was “shaking like never before” when he first met the singer. “But the great thing is that I get to work with my idol and he is really cool," he added.

As previously reported on Gigwise, Jackson revealed recently that he still held an ambition to tour – but didn't specify when he planned to return to the road.

“I have always loved show business and have always enjoyed making people happy through that medium. I love the celebration of music and dance and art. I just love it,” he said.

Why not release a teaser track on the net or ’youtube’’ and see what the public think? They loved his colaboration with Akon on the leaked track ’’Hold my hand’’ on there! Come on Mike screw the critics and let us the fans judge for ourselves! I bet we’’ll love it!!!

Even if this album is musically better than Thriller, there is no way it could possibly sell better in today’s music market. Album sales are a fraction of what they were 5 years ago, let alone 25 years ago. I hope either he, or someone in charge of his finances that he will LISTEN to, realizes this and keeps costs for the album down. The last thing we need is for this album to go like Invincible; expensive to make with little return. This could be his last; he better make it coun
