Led Zeppelin: 'American Singer To Replace Robert Plant'

A tabloid report claims...

Share

A dubious story has been published in a tabloid newspaper this weekend, claiming that the other members of Led Zeppelin are ready to replace Robert Plant with an American frontman.

The story claims that Jimmy Page, John-Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have been practising in London without Plant who is still touring with country star Alison Krauss.

It says that in Plant's absence, an American singer has been standing in for him – and that stand-in singer could become more permanent.

A 'source' tells The Sun: "They've been rehearsing frequently in London and the band is really gelling. There's an American guy who has been standing in for Robert regularly and doing a great job.

"Obviously they want the original frontman to join them on the road but he still won't commit. They will be finalising plans for shows over the next couple of months and will tell Robert that if he doesn't want to be involved they will go ahead without him."

Who could possibly replace Robert Plant? Post your thoughts below.

  • No Plant No Zeppelin ?? Maybe not, but if he is going to be a horses arse and not join up with the others, then I would be more than happy to see Page and Jones without him.

  • They are rehearsing with Plant’s kid, J from Mean Venus. Just til Plant is done with the Krauss thing then they will tour mid-2009 with Plant’’s sons band opening for them. You heard it hear first.

  • A younger singer with stronger vocals could easily take Robert’s place. After all, Plant’’s voice - while still great - just isn’’t what it once was. Maybe that’’s one reason why he’’s not jumping to the call. A peek into the world of operatic singers and I’’m sure Mr. Page could find the kind of vocal power he needs to get the Zeppelin off the ground. Surely, a once-in-a-lifetime ex

  • Are you people advocating a replacement frontman insane? Led Zeppelin is not Zep without Plant. Light and shade, though Jimmy’s idea, could not have been realized without him.

  • I flew from Athens, Greece to London for the mere chance to see Led Zeppelin at the O2 Arena, without having secured a ticket. If Zeppelin played without Robert I wouldn’t bother going next door. I don’’t think anybody can replace him. Chris Robinson sung Zeppelin’’s songs well, but the Magic wasn’’t quite there!

  • That dude from mean venus aint opening for nobody. He died 6 months ago from a heroin overdose. Supposedly he was working with Axl at the 11th hour writing material for inclusion on Chinese Democracy. Guess he couldn't handle playing with the big boys. This is also supposedly one of the reasons that Plant isn't doing the tour too. After this Krauss b.s. he is done. Really ashame the Zep guys can't honor Plant's decision and understand that losing your son to heroin is hor
