Jon McClure: 'I'm Not Quitting The Music Industry'

Despite saying it stank...

Reverend and the Makers frontman Jon McClure has denied that he is to quit music - despite saying recently he wanted nothing to do with the “stinking” industry.

"I got a bit mental when I got down in the dumps and said I was going to quit but I won't, I'll carry on," he told BBC Newsbeat.

Last month, McClure was quoted as saying that Reverend and the Makers second album would be his last contribution to music.

But the singer, who has teamed up with ex-Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson to form a new group, has now vowed to return.

"There's some people I need to put straight on a few things first. I will be back, don't worry about that, I'm bullet-proof."

  • I second that notion. He occasionally makes some interesting remarks. But his music is dreadful. I supported him in Leeds before first album came out, nice guy he is. Just substandard music...

  • I disagree, at least hes the guts to organise and lead a festival revolving around racism. How often do you actually hear of anything like that? Especially in not-so-well-known towns such as Rotherham? And to be honest, his music provides an upbeat feel upon everyday experiences of a man his age.

  • i do like some of their songs, but the guy just seems to be trying to be a martyr or something. and the fact that he said their second album will be free after what radiohead did with in rainbows, and then saying he’s gonna quit but now he’’s not - it doesn’’t show him off too well.
