Oasis' Noel Gallagher Slams Metallica And Bloc Party

Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher has hit out at Metallica and Bloc Party, three years after branding the latter “appalling indie rubbish”.

Gallagher said he liked everything about Metallica, who release their new album next week, “except their music.”

Asked why he didn't like the group, he replied: “Metal is not my thing. Wanna know why? Black drum sticks ... no need.”

Gallagher's comments about the metal band come less than a month after Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich said the Oasis guitarist had helped him quit drugs.

Ulrich told one publication that he had realised that “'if he [Gallagher] can do it, everybody else can do it'.”

'Shit Bloc Party'

Gallagher was altogether less diplomatic towards Bloc Party, who released their new album 'Intimacy' digitally last month.

“I wouldn’t go out and buy a Bloc Party record ’cos I know it would be shit,” he told musicradar.

Oasis are currently on the Canadian leg of their North American tour and will return to the UK at the end of September for a concert at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

They release their new album, 'Dig Out Your Soul', on October 6th.

Noely G is class. He is a very clever, astute, some might say - (sorry couldn’t resist) subjective man who talks a whole lot of sense and anyone who doesn’’t agree with this simple fact is entitiled to their opinion, but in mine they are wrong. Not saying all of his records are the best ever but the man himself is very rarely off the track in his musings.

I wouldn’t go and buy and Oasis CD because I ACTUALLY KNOW that it would be shite. Another hour of out of date, rubbish, nonsense that is just as bad or if not worse than their last album- which normally consists of them trying to rip of Stones or Beatles tracks. Truly he is an idiot.

- i don’t think they rip off the beatles or stones anymore than any other band.as for his comments,so what! bloc party are pretty shit and metallica havent released a decent album in 20 years,you could argue oasis havent had a decent album since 97 but so what,lars and noel are friends,both millionaires,both happy,both playing their music.Lars doesnt need gigwise readers defending him.

Oasis are shadow of their former selves and if they need to attack two of the most popular bands of the moment to drum up pub. for their new (and predictably disappointing) album then I for one reckon it reflects far worse on them than it does on Bloc Party or Metallica.

That’s not even a slam against Metallica though. He’’s pals with them but just isn’’t in to metal. Plus you can tell he’’s half joking because he said that one of the reasons he doesn’’t like metal is because they have black drumsticks. This isn’’t a slam, its a gag.

He was joking about Metallica, though I agree with him on Bloc Party, truly awful band. Anyway Noel wins, we are all taking about Oasis, negative or not. Good publicity for the new album. At least he is not afraid to speak his mind in this cowardly anonymous internet culture.

Noel...hmmm interesting he makes these moronic comments that stirs up media attention near the release of a new album he has coming out...one that, like all the others, rips off more songs from the Beatles catalogue, not to mention they are the worst live band on the planet. I hope Noel dies of a stroke on stage.

Noel hardly slams Metallica in this does he? all he said is he doesn’’t like metal. I love Metallica but fair play to Noel just because he doesn’’t like their music it doesn’’t mean he thinks they’’re talentless. People like what they like and if it’’s not the same as you who gives a fuck? Some people get wound up so easily!
