Dr Dre's publicist has confirmed that the rapper's son, Andre Young Jr, died at home in Los Angeles on Saturday morning.
“Dr. Dre is mourning the loss of his son Andre Young Jr. Please respect his family’s grief and privacy at this time,” the rapper's publicist said in an emailed statement to Gigwise.
Initial unconfirmed reports, which emerged this morning in the Los Angeles Times, said Young Jr, 20, was discovered by his mother at 10am in his bedroom.
The newspaper said he had returned from a party in the early hours of the morning. It's understood that police do not suspect any foul play in the death.
Dr Dre's publicist did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
An autopsy on Monday failed to obtain a cause of death and medical examiners are awaiting the results of a toxicology report.
As previously reported on Gigwise, Dr Dre is scheduled to release his long awaited new studio album, 'Detox', later this year.
