    The Killers closed the second day of the Reading Festival tonight (August 23rd) – but were dogged by sound problems throughout their set.

    An army of fans turned out to watch the band make their only UK festival appearance of the year.

    But many were left disappointed because of the low volume levels, which have been an unfortunate feature of the opening two days of the event on the main stage.

    The Killers began with ‘For Reasons Unknown’, which saw frontman Brandon Flowers, who was dressed in a glamorous tailored turquoise jacket, take over on bass duties.

    In addition to their firm fan favourites, such as ‘When You Were Young’ and ‘Mr Brightside’, the group played a number of songs from their recent b-sides compilation ‘Sawdust’.

    ‘Sweet Talk’ and ‘Tranquilize’, both from the album, were well received, as was an outing for the band’s cover of Joy Division’s ‘Shadowplay’.

    They also previewed ‘Spaceman’, a song from their forthcoming third album ‘Day And Age’, for the first time in the UK.

    The bands show ended with an anthemic rendition of ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’, which saw a shower of confetti sprayed into the nights sky.

    • That really sucks about the sound, that happened at Glastonbury when they performed too. I hope it wasn’t too bad.

    • Strange. It wasn’t actually that quiet if you were behind the second set of speakers... But if you got caught in no-mans land behind the sound stage... it was too windy.

    • Quite a few people walked away whilst they were playing. during songs that wer’nt as popular, it seemed so quiet that it just got boring. A little disappointed..

    • Main stage sound at leeds was just as bad for most if not all bands. it#8217;’s such a shame. The killers set list was weak for a headliner, i thought, they have so much more to give, and their performance was faltering. It seemed that their nerves were getting to them, and sound problems can’’t have helped. I love them, but i was disappointed, so i wish them luck.

    • Totally agree, sound was appalling. And they really tried SO hard to put on a big show and they didn’t deserve it. And to the organisers - don’’t blame Health and Safety - put MORE relay speakers in, plain and simple. You have the technology and it is inexcusable when people are paying so much for tickets to provide poor sound so close to the stage. I was next to the sound desk and we could almost hear the Manics in the tent better......

    • rage against the machine were quiet but still pulled off an amazing set, the killers were quiet and boring - i don’t think the sound had anything todo with it!

    • The poor sound quality was the direct fault of the organisers, and the killers must feel mortified that this has happened again. They always give a fantastic performance, and I hope this does not put them off from coming to this country again because of sound problems.

    • Hey lads, watched them play at Marlay Park in Dublin and the sound wasnt great either. 70 yoyos for a ticket. Sort it out
