Robert Plant And Jimmy Page 'Fall Out' Scuppers Led Zeppelin Reunion

It's been claimed...

A reported rift between Robert Plant and Jimmy Page is thought to be the reason why Led Zeppelin have failed to announce further reunion shows.

It's claimed that Plant was angered when his guitarist failed to acknowledge him when he collected the band's Best Live Act honour at the Mojo Awards last month.

Page delivered a lengthy speech at the ceremony but didn't once refer to Plant, who was touring with singer Alison Krauss at the time.

“Robert was really disappointed that he didn’t merit a mention,” a source told the Sun newspaper.

“The award was for the band’s performance, so he thought he should have at least been thanked.”

Led Zeppelin's reunion show in London last December was one of the most widely anticipated concerts in history.

As previously reported, Plant and Krauss were among the 12 acts who have been nominated for this year's Mercury Music Prize.

They will join the likes of Radiohead and Last Shadow Puppets when the award is handed out in September.

  • Oh for God\'s sake Percy GET OVER IT. Think about the fans who are drooling with anticipation at the thought of this tour. Also, not to be rude but none of us are getting any younger .... how about getting on the stage while you can still bring it!

  • There probably wont ever be another Led Zeppelin concert and the fans will just have to come to that realization. Fact is, Robert has proven to be the real workhorse of the band. Since the passing of John Bonham, Robert has put out 10 solo records (writing more than 70 songs) and multiple collaboration albums. (Excluding the Page/Plant stuff) Compare that to Jimmys 6. The volume of material is incomparable. What can be said about the other 3 remaining musicians – lazy.

  • At 60, Robert Plant has finally found a musical setting that both challenges and gratifies him professionally. Being dissed by Page just gives him one more reason not to bother with a Zep reunion tour he never really wanted to do in the first place. In the words of a song he does with the superb Alison Krauss and the incredible Raising Sand Traveling Revue band, Robert has Done Moved On, and imo it is way past time for the legions of diehard dinosaur Zep fans to do the same.

  • Well, i\'m only 16 and i would LOVE to have the opportunity to see led zeppelin in concert even if it\'s not as good as their concert in the 70\'s. i don\'t think plant realizes that many fans would pay a fortune to see them tour. i hope plant would stop acting so immature and just put the stupid issue aside and tour. yeah, it was wrong for jimmy page to take all the credit for himself but come on, just grow up robert.

  • Well said Andalou and Bruce. I\'d take a stab and say Robert has maybe five to ten years left of actively making music and touring. I\'d much rather see him make another Mighty Rearranger or Raising Sand than sing Black Dog day in and day out. Now if only Jimmy and John Paul would follow Robert\'s model and try doing something new and inventive for a change.

    • well I have Mighty Rearranger and Raising sand, and by the way all but one of roberts solo albums, but and it is a BUT, the greatest musicians have a time in their life when they create their best music. It may be their age, the decade they are in, their band members or heck the welsh cottage they are staying in, but Zeppelin was the pinacle for those four lads. The world loves Zep, not to knock them since, because some of Roberts work since has been great. BUT BUT Zep was special to us.

  • I was a teen in the seventies and loved Led Zep..Like a lot of people of my generation, I had moved on to country music..I saw Robert and Alison live in Detroit. They are amazing...I can’t imagin a 60 year old life long smoker could scream at the top of his lungs for concert after concert and not ruin his voice.... I love my Led Zep albums, but it is much more exciting to see something new. I really don’’t think Robert ever wanted a reunion tour.

  • This is bullshit, since they talked about the band collectively, and were there to represent the band and really only acknowledged Jason Bonham individually which was correct. This is just bullshit. They will never tour, might do other one offs for good causes from time to time. Which is the right only reason for a band like them to do it. Anyone that really knows and has followed Zep know that this is the case.

  • Robert Pud should come to the realization that he and the rest of Led Zeppelin would make moco bucks on a world tour. They would break all sorts of box office records. If only he would get off his whoa is me ( Jimmy didn’t mention me) high horse. And just for your information Andalou, if it wasn’’t for Jimmy Page forming Led Zeppelin, you wouldn’’t even know who Robert Pud was.

  • Don’t you just want to bang their heads together? For grown men who are now both in their seventh decade, they act like they are still in the playground!

  • I was 15 when they came to Houston, TX. WOW Amazing! I waited in a long line at 6am to get my ticket. I didn't care about being pushed, shoved and flattened like a pancake b/c it was worth it. When they came to Houston for the Page/Plant tour, I was there. Robert and Jimmy if your reading this post, you need to reconcile your indifferences and put out one last hell of a concert for your TRUE DIE HARD FANS! To meet these legends in person would be a dream.
