Meat Loaf Responds After Fans Walk Out Of Concert
Share

Meat Loaf has responded after fans criticised his performance at the Broadlands Festival in Hampshire last weekend.

A review of the festival, which also saw sets from Boyzone and Katie Melua, claims that some fans left the concert before Meat Loaf had finished.

Other fans have left comments which attack the quality of Meat Loaf's vocal performance during his show.

A spokesperson for the star, David Cox, told the BBC that there were “no problems” with the sound and that the singer “does not drink".

Mr Cox also added that meat Loaf had been receiving “vocal training” since he was diagnosed with acute laryngitis last year.

"Meat Loaf put on the kind of fantastic show fans have come to expect," he added.

  • Meat Loafs performance was great - I found the sound would come and go, being blown by the wind (hardly Meats fault) so moved to the left of the stage and got the full Meat effect. Stop moaning - there was nothing wrong with his performance, only let down by the English ’Summer’’

  • I have seen Meat many times before but would never see him again. This is one tour too many. The poor sound quality may have been down to weather conditions but his voice was weak and his words slurred. We were 100m to the left of the stage and could hear all the backing singers clearly and as usual they were excellent. We stayed until he began to murder Bat Out Of Hell, then could bare no more. Such a shame as Meat has always been such a massive star. Pearl was very good too. Sorry Meat.

  • Ignore the negative comments, Meat, like others have said here, it was an overall excellent performace for a guy who has had vocal and heart problems. Hope I have half the energy and dynamism of someone your age. Feel privelged that I have seen you in concert and so is my girlfriend, a life long fan, who was grinning throughout the whole show. I hope those trying to seek refunds are told where to go!

    • I felt privelged to see Meat in concert, but not at Broadlands on Sunday. A few years ago in Hyde Park. The atmosphere electric, the sound quality was superb, Meat’s vocal cords stretched to the absolute max. I found it hard to think of a better gig, and i’’ve seen hundreds. But that was then and this was Sunday night. The sound was dreadful like a child playing mischievously with the volumn control. But finally realised Meat’’s voice was no longe

  • I’ve heard how fantastic a performer Meat Loaf is and so I finally got to see him. We were at the very front but Meat Loaf didn’’t particularly engage the audience, and was vocally very poor throughout. It was a show by a great band and backing singers, lacking a front man. There were enjoyable moments, particularly the little role play scenes, but his classics didn’’t shine. Meat looked ill, very very ill. NB: Broadlands is an estate (not a f

  • Meat, I love ya but it’s better to walk out out the back door with your dignity, than be carried off the stage with poor reviews and unhappy fans.

  • I hope Jason Gregory is getting want he wanted from this non issue. The show was great the weather sucked , the wind blew the sound around. People have opinions even people who weren\'t there. The main newspaper reviewer liked the show. as well I would guess 90% of the crowd. I was at Hyde park as well. Meat Loaf sang better Sunday. Judged from songs like Life is a Lemon and Out of the Fryin pan. Meat Keep Rockin. Your By Line should read Jason the devil made me do it

  • Sorry i have been a fan for over 25 years and have seen superb performances in the past but this one was terrible. Meatloaf appeared to be slurring his words and forgetting the lyrics. It was a birthday treat for my daughter, a waste of 260 pounds. I have video of the night and it is embarrasing.

  • A great gig, Meat Loaf is a rock god, not the heavenly father so I wasnt dissappointed with the weather. I was dissappointed with the people who attended, drinking smoking. I have seen Meat loads, and this is the first time Id seen anyone drunk at a gig, that bothered me!!! I\'ve always seen the gigs in the north and that is where I will go in the future, Enjoy yourselves guys!!! A little hand clapping, singing along

  • Same problem in Bath on the 4th - on his Solos he was sluring words, seemed to be taking tablets and after 5 songs we left when he wa singing off key and too slowly for music. He was a legend from my childhood and I now realise somethings are best left as fond memories. He’s of an age and health when these big songs are no longer do-able in a live concert. I wrote to Live Nation to complain and they said I was the only person who noticed any problems... any one else had this reply
