Fans Call New Michael Jackson Song 'Summer Anthem Of 2008'

'Hold My Hand', the new song by rapper Akon and Michael Jackson, is 2008's summer in the making and proof that “the king of pop” is back.

Those are the thoughts of just a few music fans who have contacted Gigwise since the track emerged online yesterday (June 30th).

'Hold My Hand' is understood to be the product of the pair's recent studio collaboration, which is expected to lead to the release of Jackson's new studio album.

Speaking to Gigwise, Boggie, described the song as “beautiful” and said it “brings much comfort”.

“The lyrics reach out to the basic need that is so absent in todays botch job of a society. Michael shows his sincere dedication to making the world a better place.

“That is what a true King is supposed to do. The King of Pop is always in the hearts of those who understand what life, humanity and music are about. Michael brings out the best in anyone he works with, Akon sounds so smooth.”

Ertan was also impressed by the track and how “Michael brings Akon to another level”.

“This song simply ROCKS!!! It's so smooth, so beautiful,” added.

A number of fans who contacted Gigwise also agreed that 'Hold My Hand' proved that Jackson had “the best voice ever”.

Well, the song is fantastic. It’s new, fresh and Michael Jackson WILL PROVE to everyone WHY he will always be the King Of Pop. Nobody has surpassed what he has done, musically or career-wise, and plus he never once renounced his throne! Therefore nobody should ever be questioning whether he still is the King Of Pop or not! Michael Jackson will make a massive comeback.

I am speechless. The vibe is totally mellow and makes you feel good inside. The message of hope and unity in these troubled times is right on target. Michael Jackson’s voice is heavenly, yes a smooth and beautiful song but the music/tune is not outstanding and like the rest of the chart jargon these days. MJ is better than this (music-wise, not voice which is always unbelievable), and I hope this effort is just a boost up for Akon and not what we can expect from MJ’’s new album. The song is just an amazing song, one you can listen to over and over again. There’s nothing bad in it. And Michael’’s voice sounds amazing. Whether you were a fan, are a fan, aren’’t a fan or have never listend to him before, Michael proves on this track that he can deliver. Aww I love that song! They definately should make that Akons new single..not only Akon fans can enjoy this song, but MJ fans as well..and maybe people that love Akon will be more open to MJs talent just as much as the tolerant MJ fans! Who knows..but this song makes me smile everytime I listen to it...I downloaded it and lets just say thats the only song you can hear blaring on repeat 24/7 :D

I think the fans who normally leave comments of this nature are completely biased. I post at a Michael Jackson forum daily, and I can confirm the reaction has been decidedly luke warm. Personally, I think it’s pleasant enough but I wouldn’’t agree with it being a summer anthem in waiting. I try very hard to stop listening to this. Really. I tried. I failed. It’s been playing over 100 times now. How can a song cause this kind of weird feeling - it’’s a mix of mellowness but not too much and still have enough high spirit on it. I am addicted. Very nice song. Thanks MJ and Akon.
