US rapper Lil' Wayne look set to smash US chart history after his new album sold 423,000 copies in its first day of sales.
If 'Tha Carter III' continues to sell at a similar rate it will claim the biggest sales week on the American Billboard Top-200 in 2008.
The record is currently held by Mariah Carey after the singer's latest album 'E=MC2' sold 463,000 copies earlier this year.
The first single from Lil' Wayne's album, 'Lollipop', has already held the top spot on the US singles chart for the last five weeks.
