Kiss Star Gene Simmons Slams 'Boring' Radiohead

Kiss star Gene Simmons has slammed bands including Radiohead, who he believes put on boring live shows.

Simmons said that bands have a responsibility to provide a spectacle for their fans and shouldn't just stand static with a guitar.

"I admire bands like Radiohead, but the idea of being that serious?
Fuck that, get up on stage and blow shit up,” Simmons said.

Simmons went on to compare live performances to films, saying that they require audio and visual elements.

“If you're not fulfilling the visual part it's like watching a movie with your eyes closed,” he told WENN.

"One of the biggest compliments we get is (when people say), 'I f**king hate their music but that's the best show I ever saw in my life.'"

Radiohead were criticised by music fans earlier this week who called the opening nights of their European tour “terrible”.

He’s so right, I saw Radiohead in 2001 and they were so boring the singer kept dancing like a manic and they didn’’t played anything from Pablo Honey not even Creep which is their best song. - Walter...you gotta open your eyes man...Radiohead put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen and c’’mon...move on from Pablo Honey, they’’ve come a long way since Creep. You must be a die hard Kiss fan holding on to them like a dying dream, hoping, wishing and praying that they can ever hold a candle to a band like Radiohead. maybe Gene Simmons should spend more time writing and performing his music instead of trying to sell out wherever he can.

- Radiohead is Radiohead and we are all better ppl for being able absorb them.... If you don’t like Radiohead that’’s fine.. it’’s really just your loss, even if you happen to see one of their performances which you categorize as boring. That is just one performance. you can’’t even begin to compare Radiohead (or in this case Thom Yorke), to Gene Simmons. He was playing underdeveloped music 30+ years ago with good live show

Gene Simmons has it all wrong. It’s the age old dispute of style vs. substance, and I think it’’s easy to make that mistake when your music isn’’t that good. Radiohead is in no way boring. They put on amazing shows. The sound, the lights, the music, everything is top notch. Simmons is nothing but a has been on a massive ego trip. Money and quick cheap publicity is all he seems to be interested in these days. Please, stick to your pathetic excuse for a show Family Jewels, Mr. Simmons, and leave reviewing music to people who actually still give a damn.

Radiohead is amazing live. Thom Yorke as well as Johnny Greenwood. And for the person who went to the concert to hear creep is completely ridiculous. And there are many more CH-CHUNK CH-CHUNK moments in their music. Their music has layers, and builds and is complex unlike the usual 3 guitars and a drummer. Plus if anyone has seen "Idiotech" live, its amazing. I saw them at Bonnaroo and then Atlanta, and both were amazing. Maybe it is the creativity that bothers Gene.

It’s funny, Kiss was the first band I fell in love with when I was a wee lad. In 95 Radiohead became the last band I fell in love with. I saw them open for REM, and they blew me away. I have since made pilgrimages to the 97,01,03.06 and 08 tours. I saw them this May in Bristow during a monsoon. Our car died on the way home at 330 am. It was so worth the hassle. It was like going thru hell to get to heaven.Thom, Johnny and the boys are mesmerizing. Can’’t wait till C

look at the pictures, Friends... How is that not emotional. There is so much energy in their presence. You don’t need to blow shit up" to have energy. In fact, you need more energy to have a great presence without "blow[ing] shit up". I don’t know what the heck Gene is talking about! I’’ve seen them live and i moved from the front row farther back because of Radiohead visuals! I would’’ve missed a great show if I stayed in the front. Plus the fact i kept my neck from locking upright! And musically, Just awsome. I like some KISS shit, but gene can go FUCK himself! Gene is so right...I saw Kiss on Friday at Download and have never seen anything like it....and their music / singing was fantastic, I’ve seen hundreds of gigs and think there is no band left who could eclipse their show...10 / 10 full on rock show......Radiohead nice but not in the same league folks....

any one who thinks a radiohead show is boring has never been to one obviously I have seen both bands in the last decade and sorry gene your band SUCKS live in fact I was a fan till I saw a live show boring music , stupid lyrics , dumb pyrotechnics even the band poison put on a better show and they were the opening band .radiohead best light show ,great songs ,intellegent lyrics , and one of the greatest spazziest dancers I have ever seen totally worth the 45 bucks to see .
