Russian have won the 2008 Eurovision song contest with ‘Believe’, sung by Dima Bilan.
In a dramatic live final in Belgrade, Bilan’s song received a total of 272 points from twenty-four voting countries across Europe.
Ukraine finished second in the competition with 230 points, with Greece scoring 218 points in third.
The United Kingdom, who were represented by former X-Factor runner up Andy Abrahams (pictured), finished joint last with 14 points.
Broadcaster Terry Wogan, who presented the United Kingdom’s coverage of the event, described Abraham’s position as a “tremendous disappointment” for the country.
Over half of the UK’s points tally came courtesy of close neighbours Ireland.
Dance producer Sebastien Tellier, who controversially represented France with ‘Divine’, which is sung in English, took home 47 points.
