Led Zeppelin 'To Announce 250Million Pound World Tour'

Whitesnake singer says...

Led Zeppelin will mark their 40th anniversary with a £250million world tour, according to reports.

Calls for the band to reform for a full world tour have been relentless since they played a one-off show at the O2 Arena in London last December.

Yesterday (May 9th), David Coverdale, the frontman of Whitesnake and a long-term friend of the band, said the tour was “very likely”.

"I'm expecting a call from Jimmy any day asking my band Whitesnake to support them on their world tour. Am I on board? You bet. Probably worth billions,” he said.

"Unlike rolling out the wheelchairs with the umpteenth Rolling Stones world tour, a Led Zeppelin tour will be incredible."

Led Zeppelin have previously said that they would wait until September for other touring commitments to finish before deciding whether to announce new shows.

However, according to today’s Mirror, the tour is now inevitable and could take place as early as the end of their year.

The paper also claims that each member stands to make as much as £10million each from touring.

You can relive the band’s O2 show in our gallery HERE.

  • I would definately go. I’m an old fart now and Led Zep are an old fart band, simple. I wouldn’t bother with Whitesnake, though.

  • At this point in their lives it is all about the money. I wish they would just remain as they WERE. That’s where the true real memories of Zeppelin are. It will never be the same, but may replenish many a memory!

  • What a joke! David Coverdale is an idiot and is looking for exposure that he sorely needs. Jimmy Page used Coverdale to get at Plant. Other than that he is useless to anyone. Besides if Zeppelin were to reform for a tour they would have the pick of the litter to choose from. Why they would ask a band they detest to opne for them is beyond me. Besides they never had an opening act in the 70’s.

  • I went to the show at the O2. I would go again, willing to pay $300-$400 for a ticket. The show was that good. I wouldn’t want to hear new material, as it would be that snake charmer music plant has been playing for a few years.

  • Led Zepp . the greatest band that ever was! Sorry Beatles, only a short head in it though ( maybe a dead heat). Never had enough spare cash to see either band in the flesh, but would find it now to see LZ perform. Pure magic in the music (also the lyrics - now we have internet and can print them out). If you have music in your soul you love Led Zeppelin!
