Paramore’s Hayley Williams has defended Miley Cyrus over photos of the teenage actress that appeared in Vanity Fair Magazine.

Williams, who revealed that her family was friends with the Cyrus family, said the actress was a “great girl”.

"Miley's got a good head on her shoulders, so I think she'll come out of all this strong,” Williams said.

The photos of 15-year-old, who is pictured wrapped in a sheet with an exposed back, have caused widespread controversy.

The actress, who shot to fame in Disney’s Hannah Montana, has admitted to feeling “embarrassed” by the pictures.

Speaking to MTV, Williams revoked claims that Cyrus’s parents had failed to advise their daughter properly, saying: “I know they wouldn't steer their daughter wrong.”

Last week, Madonna also voiced her support for Cyrus.

The singer said that she didn’t see what the “big deal” was with the photos and that “everyone should just leave her alone”.

The Vanity Fair photos were captured by controversial photographer Annie Leibovitz.

I don’t think it’s Miley a lot of people have the issue with. It’s her management and the people in charge of her for letting her be photographed semi-nude. She is a minor after all, lets not forget that. There’s a very fine line here that the people in charge (and particularly the photographer) of this young girl should not have allowed her to cross. End of. Just keep yer knickers and vest on Miley til you’re legal and you’ll avoid all this hassle. Good

ok. im tired of hearing all this crap about her taking a few pictures. she is 15 years old, you can not see her ass, vag. or tits so whats the big deal. has anyone been inside any schools lately? the 12-13 year olds there are wearing less clothes then miley was in the magizine, and must i add they have all thought atleast once they were preg. so why not turn your attention to something else worth while then throwing a his-fit because miley is in a picture with a blanket COVERING herself.

i think hayley was 100 per cent right!! and its true you couldn’t see anything in the picture, just her back! and you would see girls wayyyyyyyy younger then miley dressed in basically nothing! they are girls who are pregnant at the age of 13 and all miley did was take a few pictures with a blanket and you can see nothing!!!! leave her alone, and get on with your lives for god sake!! mileyseems like good girl and im sure its true-she will come out of this strong.xx
