The Fratellis bassist Barry Fratelli has criticised the Glastonbury Festival for booking Kings of Leon to headline this years Pyramid Stage.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Fratelli said that although he was a fan of the band, he doesn’t “think they should be headlining”.

“Not to say I think we should be headlining, but I don’t think the headline acts this year are too good to be honest,” he added.

This year’s festival, which runs from June 27th-29th, will also feature headline performances from The Verve and Jay-Z.

The Fratellis will play just before Kings of Leon at this years event and the bassist said they were hoping for a better showing the last year.

“We built it up as this big thing and it was shite,” he said. “The only thing that saved our weekend was that I got to see The Who from the side of the stage.”

Is he having a laugh? The question that should be asked is why the F*ck his shit band have played 3rd (last year) and second on the Pyramid. Bands would kill to have that slot, kick them off the lineup is what I say. Kings of Leon will be amazing as headliners (Reading last year...wow!), and this is coming from someone who’s not even going to glasto this year!!

fratellis can lick shit. He should improve his own band before making comments on the Kings. Give KOL a few years and they will be considered one of the best bands of our time.

who SHOULD be headlining then Barry? Lets overview... Fratellis: one hit wonders (thanks to the ipod). Kings of Leon: classy musicians who actually know how to play their instruments. I think Barry is jealous because the Followill family are better than the Fratelli family, in every way.

I have to say i love the fratellis but..barry is talking shit. I FUCKING LOVE KINGS OF LEON. They are the best band in the world! I am going to Glastonbury and cannot wait to see them, and what made me want glasto more then reading, is the fact that the kings were headlining. Soo.. sorry to Barry, but the kings are the best headliners out of the 3, and i would prefer them to headline then the fratellis.

Liked the Fratellis first album, but no fucking way should they be second on the bill. Their new stuff sounds awful too. Kings of Leon rule and the way they rocked at Reading last year will show everyone why they should be headlining. They stole the whole festival and piss all over anything the Fratellis have or will ever do. KOL are the best band around today.

1) They are the best of the 3 headlining acts 2) one of the best bands in the world (THE best in my opinion) 3) awesome live - live stuff is even better than their studio stuff 4) they had the best album of 2007 5) 3 albums worth of quality tunes add this up and you get the member of an average band talking shite (iv seen them both live n i cudda fallen asleep at the fratellis gig but have been gutted each time KOL’s gigs have ended)

See its people like this who make me laugh.... Mate, your albulm was CRAP! Alright, you’ve got a couple of knee tapping tunes, but no where even close to the full on epical treasures that the Kings have come out with. Seriously, you need to go home and eat your salty porridge, you silly little girl. Maybe your just scared, cause to be honest, i’d be laying bricks if i was playing before them lot, their gonna make you lot look like ’Pinky and Perky’! ha ha, unlucky!!

I have seen both bands live & although I wasnt overly impressed with KOL I would have to say that they were ten times better than the Fratellis will ever achieve. They were awful when I saw them & if they have never enjoyed Glasto then why have they agreed to do it again??? I could think of loadsof better bands (both live & studio) that deserve the slot before they do!

Barry Fratelli... Comeon now big fella dont be getting too big for your boots. The bottom line is the Kings deserve a slot on that stage whereas you lot would be more at home on the john peel stage.

That is hilarious. These one hit wonders that sound like every other crap band out there have the nerve to criticize Kings of Leon? They think its awesome that they got to see The Who... well KOL has had the honor of opening for Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Pearl Jam and U2. So really... The Fratellis should feel honored to be playing before a band that has so much more respect in the music industry than them.

I love the fratellis, and usually agree with most things they say, i.e music these days is shit. But kings of leon are amazing! i cant believe barry would say they shouldnt be headlining, i wasnt there but watched them on the telly and they were fucking brilliant, wished i couldve been there!

Went to see the Fratellis at Brixton, it was the worst gig of my life. The Kings on the other hand.. there are no words. F*CKING INCREDIBLE. The Fratellis should be grateful they even played Glastonbury the year the Kings headlined.
