Velvet Revolver's Slash Attacks Emo Music

And praises Muse...

Velvet Revolver’s guitarist Slash has attacked Emo bands - saying that he hates the much publicised genre.

In an interview with the Daily Star, Slash said it was sad that that were “no identifiable guitar players in rock ’n’ roll any more.”

“With the exception of Jack White – who is great – the new breed of bands aren’t bringing out decent guitarists,” he said.

“Rock ’n’ roll is so diluted in this millennium, you just don’t hear good solos. And I hate Emo.”

Despite his distain for current rock bands, the guitarist did single out Muse as a band he admires.

“I did a gig with Muse recently and those guys can really play,” he said.

“It’s not really what I’d call proper rock ’n’ roll, but they do something pretty special.”

    • for some reason, I think he just used solos as an example but he’s right, rock music is primarily known for it’s kickass solo’s, and emo bands are just slightly above average death metal guitarists, with a guy that sounds like a woman when singing. Btw, gun’s and roses was a great band, their cover of ”Sympathy For The Devil” was even better then the original, and Paradise City has the only drum beat that at any moment I can recall.

  • Slash is right- emo sucks. But let’s be honest, Velvet Revolver isn’t exactly the savior of Rock N Roll. Despite a few decent tunes,they’ve made sub par albums at best. And this is coming from a guy who loves every single member of the band, including Kushner. They just don’t seem to have that ”it” factor one would expect, given the more than impressive cast of characters associated. Ah well, there’s always a chance the mates could reunite with Axl,

  • I agree with Slash even if a song has no solos the current guitar parts of the songs are so not interesting, look at the red hot chili peppers they dont play solos in every song but to me they have some interesting guitar parts, and in my opinion jack white sucks.
