• I live in Dubai! Promoters warn all artists performing here not to bring drugs, porn (he was also caught with hardcore porn DVD’s in his record bag), so there is no excuse whatsoever. Adn sadly yes! Many tourists think they can come here and act like they do in their own countries - WRONG! Abide by the laws and respect the cultures of the country your visiting. • I also heard recently of some guy getting a similar sentence for having a miniscule amount smaller than a grain of sugar stuck to the sole of his shoe; and another with a trace that not even the human eye could see contained within a bit of fluff in his pocket getting the same 4 year stint - how crazy is that ?? !! I’m all for respecting a countries local etiquette, customs and the like, but this is just plain wrong...

• Typical comments from people who are ignorant of other places around the world. Had he been travelling to Malaysia, it could have been worse, drug possession carries the death penalty over there. Each country has it’s own laws regarding drugs, the ones in the Middle East happen to be harsh - deal with it! The place is very liberal in other ways. I’m thankful for the tough laws, it means virtually no crime. Unlike crime and murder ridden UK, ruled by hoodie street thugs - no thanks!

• Well that’s just the way it is! Dubai has a zero tolerance attitude to drugs and that’s final! You bring them in, no matter how small, you pay the price if you get caught - end of! With regards to entertainers - please - we have acts queing up to perform here, we have more big artists and dj’s performing here than anywhere else! Dubai is an amazing place to live and work, certainly better than being in the UK or US - pfff no thanks.
