The musical legend that is Leonard Cohen is set to make his live return after a fifteen year hiatus in 2008.

The baritone crooner and lyrical poet will play dates in Canada and the United States in May, before coming to Europe in the summer.

Although there is no word yet on the specific dates, venues or cities, the admin of 73-year-old Cohen’s official forum confirmed that the tour will be happening last week.

The dates will showcase material from his new album touted for release later this year. More details on the tour and the album are expected to be released next month.

    • Speaking as a 59 year old codger myself, it may be that you are missing the point here. It isn't the age of a performer that counts but the worth of his or her performance/talent/message etc. Maybe you should check it out thoroughly - you may even change your mind.

  • Hi Cynic, hush. The man has consistently made good albums, his most recent one (Dear Heather) is still a damn good album even after writing material for so many albums. Also, its his first tour in 15 years, there are thousands of people who would love to see him who havent, (like me) so this is a great opportunity for us. Thank you Mr Cohen, thank you so very much.

  • I saw him on his last concert tour in the USA, at the Fox Theater in Detroit. That was back in 1992 or 1993 I think. It was an awesome concert, and I will move heaven and hell to get tickets for this tour.

  • Hi sad Cynic, One day you may make 73, but will you have any talent to entertain or will you still be as rude as you are now?

  • The man is marvel and an awesome poet. But I know he was ripped off by his manager and is short on cash so is this why he’s reissuing his back catalogue with ”bonus tracks” headlining at Glastonbury and back on tour? I’ve seen him twice: once in the early 70s and once in thelate 80s. I love his songs dearly, but hearing his voice on Ten New Songs and Dear Heather, I’d need a lot of persuasion that he was worth paying hard currency to hear.

  • Cynic, You just have no idea have you? There is no-one like Leonard Cohen. His words are pure poetry. This ’old codger’ could show you a thing or two ! I wonder what kind of music you like? Have you ever really listened to the lyrics in say ’Closing Time’ to name but one. Try it...I dare you :)

  • I saw him at the City Hall Newcastle upon Tyne in 1976, at New Street Birmingham in 1985 and at the Royal Albert Hall in 1993 I never thought I’d get another chance to see him sing live again but I will. Here’s to Pensioner Power
