Winners of T4’s mobileAct unsigned in association with  Sony Ericsson and Orange, Envy & Other Sins, have announced details of their debut single.

The band scooped when they beat Revenue in the public vote on the December 23 live final, Envy & Other Sins secured a record deal from A&M Records, headed by mobileAct judge Simon Gavin.

Recorded at the Olympic Studios, their self-penned single ‘Highness’ will be released through the imprint on February 11, followed by their as-yet-untitled debut album in March.

Pianist Jarvey Moss said: “This is the dawning of the age of furniture rock – we never expected our big break to be on a reality show; we’ve always been about making music and now we’ve got the chance to do it on a bigger stage.”

  • Wasnt a fan of this show. a lot of great talent on it and was a bit annoyed when that they took just another indy band. thought they would have gone for a fresh sound.

  • i swear these guys have ben around for donkey’s. good music though. loved the neo-victorian get up when i saw them. hope they haven’t changed their style for the sake of a contract.

  • Indie? Try schmindie. Both of the finalists were pretty generic-by-numbers-crap. And just because they play guitars it doesn’t mean that it’s better than X Factor: it’s not. This ain’t rock’n’roll, it’s...light entertainment.

  • Jo Whiley never had a soul. She’s been unleashing generic ’flavour of the month’ pap on the airwaves for donkey’s years. THis lot are no better or worse than the slew of Franz Ferdinand/Arctic Monkeys ’alternative music for the masses’ bands with contracts with Topman out and about every new year.

  • I think they’re great. I think Mr Zeppelin has missed the point somewhat... they aren’t rock music... they are guitar based pop, and bloody good at what they do.

  • Envy and Other Sins, I think you guys will sell more sucessful than Leona Lewis. I can’t imagine Leona Lewis performing at the Shockwave NME gigs.
