Kanye West was joined by a very special guest at his Manchester Evening News Arena gig last night – none other than Jay-Z.

Rumours were rife last week that Jay-Z would perform with Kanye at the O2 Arena as a symbol of support to his close friend just two days after Donda West was buried. However, he failed to appear for that particular show.

Last night, during the completely sold-out show, Jay-Z arrived in a blanket of darkness to duet Kanye on his own track ‘Encore’; a move which saw the venue erupt.

One fan told us: “It was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. When Jay-Z came onstage to join Kanye, he set the stage alight!”

Elsewhere during the fervently received set, Kanye rolled out hits including ‘Gold Digger’, ‘Touch The Sky’, 'Diamonds From Sierra Leone', 'All Falls Down', 'Jesus Walks', the ultimate ‘Stronger’ and a version of Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ which he dedicated to Donda.

  • Jay-Z’s surprise appearance was out of this world, the highlight of an amazing gig. The whole night was brilliant, even down to the support acts: GLC, Consequence, Common and the UK’s own fantastic Estelle. Kanye is an amazing showman. A night to remember!

  • This was the best gig i have been to...ever! I couldn’t believe it when Jay-Z came on stage, totally unexpected. I was in shock and couldn’t actually remember the tracks he did until i replayed the vids on my phone after the gig. I was standing near the stage and the crowd was loving it. I was at the last show he did at the MEN arena and was disappointed by the show and the technical faults but the show last night more than made up for it.

  • was awesome yo i didnt believe it was him i heared the beat and i was like wait just blaze did the psa beat why is it at a kanye show then i figured hes just gon perform it to show his respect to jigga after he did big brother then instead of hearing kanye i heard hov i looked carefully there was two guys on stage i turned over and sed is that hov and my dude was like yes thats jigga i went crazy SHIIIT awesome gig

  • manchester was amazin!! the whole concept of da tour was so diff 4rm da touch the sky tour, he keeps on improving!! he’s a real trooper, u would neva have guessed wat he’s goin thru now. jay z was a real treat bt i loved da fact he neva overshadowed kanye, he just added to the nite and showed real support. i love kanye!!!

  • luved every second of it! didnt think the nite could get any better, then Hova arrived! Oh my God! Best gig ive ever been to! Jay turnin up in Mcr! That kinda thing only happens at places like Madison Sq Garden NYC! No 1 in the game can touch them 2! wicked nite!

  • This was a truly amazing concert. Kanye is an amazing performer, funky, unique and so talented. He is all about the music. Hey Mama was so emotional - the support he received from the crowd was amazing. Kanye is a legend and completely gorgeous.
