Marching On: My Chemical Romance

Marching On: My Chemical Romance

You gain a real feel that hard work is what makes My Chemical Romance. Mikey admits feeling flattered at the success of the Black Parade describing it as their “definitive record, which knocked down people’s perceptions.” It's the relentless press and touring as well as a landmark album which has launched MCR and, despite losing two members from this tour, the band's work ethic has forced them through these remaining dates. “Frankie’s at home with medical emergency going on in his family but we’re pretty sure he’ll be in Australia. As for Bob he’s super injured his wrists. After the Bon Jovi show Bob’s wrist had gotten so bad, he’s a trooper though so he didn’t cancel the show but by the Maine University show he knew it wasn’t a good idea and it wasn’t worth it.” Sadly Bob remains on the sidelines but the Maine University issue has now been resolved after the Uni threatened to sue the band.    The live show itself has been scaled back a bit since the theatrics of the opening Black Parade dates. “We just wanted to make it about My Chem in the traditional way again. We felt it was time to end all that and do a proper rock show. There’s not gonna be any blimps tonight….there’s still fire though,” he adds showing the spectacle can’t be fully removed.
On a final note he adds that MCR are now settling down with himself and Gerard, his brother, having married in recent months and with Frankie and Ray both engaged. “Married life is amazing! It’s great I was given the time off to normalise a little,” (Mikey took six months off to settle into married life without the hectic touring schedule). It seems that with next year's festivals in their sights and a work ethic second to none that MCR will have to enjoy the upcoming break before the process starts all over again, but it seems they wouldn’t want it any other way.
